20160814_064905A lot was brought up about the Evangelical vote, and Christians in general have been a hot topic on the news lately. Most bad news, including terrorism, is centered around religious persecution. Now Israel is in the news from all angles.
Look at a description of  Israel: a Middle Eastern country on the Mediterranean Sea, is regarded by Jews, Christians and Muslims as the biblical Holy Land. Its most sacred sites are in Jerusalem. According to the CIA World Factbook, Israel is 8,019 square miles in area, and its population, as of a 2014 estimate, is 7,821,850. In size, Israel is comparable to the state of New Jersey.
Did you ever wonder how Israel survived all these centuries?
“As of 2010, Christianity was by far the world’s largest religion, with an estimated 2.2 billion adherents, nearly a third (31 percent) of all 6.9 billion people on Earth,” the Pew report says. “Islam was second, with 1.6 billion adherents, or 23 percent of the global population.” Those numbers are predicted to shift in the coming decades, as the world’s population rises to 9.3 billion by the middle of this century. In that time, Pew projects, Islam will grow by 73 percent while Christianity will grow by 35 percent — resulting in 2.8 billion Muslims and 2.9 billion Christians worldwide.
Christians believe Jesus was crucified and rose from the grave three days later to sit at the right hand of God.
Muslims respect and revere Jesus (peace be upon him).  They consider him one of the greatest of God’s messengers to mankind.
The primary pillar of Islamic belief clearly states that there is nothing worthy of worship except God.
Mormons believe Jesus is literally the Son of God, the Savior and Redeemer, who died for the sins of humankind and rose from the dead on the third day with an immortal body. God, the Father, also has an immortal body.
There are many other “religions” but this is enough to show Jesus has quite a following.
Despite obvious differences about the fate of Jesus, the common thread is a belief in God.
Unlike the myths perpetrated by the Media, the Facebook and word of mouth, believing in God is still in the majority. The evil ones and God’s sworn enemy, the devil himself , doesn’t and never will stand a chance.
So if you look at the tiny country of Israel and wonder why and how it could survive in a world that thrives on power and acquisition, let that wonder turn to desire. Desire for knowledge and understanding. The answer lies in the belief system of the majority.
God gave that land to his people and is not about to let anyone alter his plans.
The Bible is still the #1 best seller for a reason. The Bible is a clear, non-fiction history book, that not only documented what happened, it also accurately predicted what would happen, and lays out what is yet to happen. It is the handbook of life with a laid out plan for salvation, based on God’s love. It is the greatest love story ever written. The Bible waits for you to plug yourself in to the narrative and included you when it is was written.
Being a Christian seems difficult at first to some, but once the initial pushback and resistance subsides, it becomes one of those “why didn’t I see this before,” moments. Why would I struggle so long when the answer has been in front of me for so long? It is a tangible, peaceful, stress relieving undertaking that leaves us, the majority, wanting for more. It is the culmination and realization of a promise by God. Billions of people will testify to that. And we all know, love makes the world go round.
